Free HSK 3.0 Resources: Word Lists, PDFs & Practice

Looking for free HSK 3.0 resources? Start with a word list for your level, check the official syllabus and sample questions, then use flashcards to review. This guide brings together free Novli vocabulary resources and official Chinese Testing International (CTI) links for HSK 1 through the combined advanced HSK 7–9 assessment.

The word lists, PDFs and Novli decks linked here are free. You can read the web lists and download the PDFs without installing an app. Importing the flashcard decks requires Novli. Exam registration is separate and may involve a fee.

1. Free HSK 3.0 word lists and PDFs

Novli’s HSK 3.0 vocabulary directory lets you browse or search the entries for each level and download a printable PDF. Choose a level below to open its web list or go straight to the PDF.

The new entries column counts the vocabulary introduced at that level. The cumulative total includes earlier levels too: for example, HSK 2 adds 200 entries to HSK 1’s 300, making 500 in total. The PDFs and decks separate the new entries by level, so review earlier levels where you have gaps.

HSK 7–9 shares an advanced vocabulary list and a combined exam; these are not three separate word-list downloads. The figures above follow the numbered vocabulary entries in the current exam syllabus, including separately listed senses.

2. Official HSK 3.0 syllabus and sample questions

Use the official materials to check what your exam requires. A vocabulary list is useful for planning revision, but it does not cover every skill or question format you will be tested on.

Both downloads are linked under HSK3.0 on the official Chinese Test Service website. If a direct download is slow or changes, open that menu and choose Examination Syllabus or Sample Questions.

Check which syllabus a study resource follows: older proficiency standards and the current exam syllabus are sometimes both described as “HSK 3.0”. For a booked exam, confirm the version with your test centre. Our HSK 3.0 vs HSK 2.0 vocabulary comparison explains how the level assignments have changed.

3. Free HSK 3.0 flashcard decks in Novli

Novli offers 34 free decks covering the 11,000 syllabus entries, with pinyin, Chinese audio, translations, stroke order and example sentences. Larger levels are split into smaller decks so you can work through one part at a time.

  1. Choose your HSK level and copy a deck code.
  2. Open Novli and go to Flashcards → top-right menu → Import Deck.
  3. Paste the code and redeem it, then review the imported cards.

Need a visual walkthrough? Follow the illustrated deck-import guide. The decks are free resources; this does not mean every other Novli feature is free.

4. Official HSK exam dates and registration deadlines

For current exam calendars, available test centres and registration, use Chinese Test Service. The site links its 2026 Test Calendar and 2027 Test Calendar under Test Takers. Confirm your level, exam version and local availability before booking.

CTI’s official worldwide launch announcement gives 13 December 2026 as the HSK 3.0 launch date. For that sitting, it lists these registration deadlines:

These deadlines apply to that announced sitting, not every future exam. Check the arrangements with your chosen centre; local registration windows can differ. For more background, read our HSK 3.0 dates and exam-changes guide.

A simple way to use these free resources

  1. Check the target: confirm your exam version and level, then read the corresponding syllabus and sample tasks.
  2. Find your vocabulary gaps: use the web list or PDF, including earlier levels where needed.
  3. Review in context: practise with the decks and example sentences, alongside listening, reading, writing and speaking tasks appropriate to your exam.

Start with the free HSK 3.0 word lists, PDFs and decks, then return to the official materials to check your preparation against the exam.
